Adjustment Bureau lacks all the glitter
The name of Matt Damon and Emily Blunt should be enough to pull movie buffs into jam packed theatres, yet, George Nolfi`s ‘The Adjustment Bureau’ simply leaves you high and dry.
Damon and Blunt starrer ‘The Adjustment Bureau’ fails to live up to his image even as the two A-list Hollywood stars share a super sexy chemistry at the very first moment when they meet in the men`s room of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel.
Based on a short story by Philip K Dick, ‘The Adjustment Bureau’ revolves around David Norris (Damon) and Elise (Blunt), who accidentally meet and love happens. Norris is a young and up-coming congressman, who`s on the verge of losing his bid for the US and Elise is a sophisticated, British ballet dancer.
When the duo meet, David is instantly smitten by the charm of Elise, however, that was the only time he was ever supposed to see Elise. Apparently, David’s life is controlled by the Adjustment Bureau, which makes sure that everything runs according to a predetermined plan.
When David learns from Richardson, one of the man adjusters assigned to his case, that he and Elise can never be together, he is more inspired than ever to track Elise down.
Stirred by the power of love, David and Elise link up and go on the run, using the Adjustment Bureau`s own tricks for being all over the place and seeing everything all at once. This involves wearing magical hats and running through numerous secret doors and making exciting leaps in time and space, all over the NY City. For a second, it looks a rip off of ‘Inception’ where time and space moves fluidly.
Eventually, what’s the fun when you`ll get your heart broken? As the Adjustment Bureau conspires, David and Elise deserve a lot more than that what they get in the end. At least, they should have the free will to choose their own fate.
