Lindsay Lohan Now Just “Lindsay”

You’ve heard of Madonna, Brandy, Britney, and Whitney. Now say hello to Lindsay…Just Lindsay.

Please address her as such…

Trouble-prone, and likely prison-bound, actress Lindsay Lohan has decided to drop her famous surname — Lohan — instead opting to now be known by just her first name. This hardly comes as a surprised. We all remember getting a good chuckle when Lohan — Er, we mean Lindsay… — filed suit against eTrade for having the unmitigated gall to feature a “Milkaholic Baby” named Lindsay in its buzzed about 2010 Super Bowl campaign.

On Friday, family matriarch Dina Lohan told PopEater.com’s Naughty But Nice that her daughter will be dropping her last name and will heretofore be known simply by her first name.

“Lindsay is dropping the Lohan and just going by Lindsay. Plus, me and [17-year-old daughter] Ali will be officially changing our last names back to my maiden name, Sullivan.”

The family has had a tumultuous relationship with Lindsay’s estranged dad, Michael, who was booked on suspicion of battery and false imprisonment of his girlfriend Kate Major just last Tuesday. He says he’s hurt by the news that his daughter is so desperate to sever ties with him that she’s willing to abandon the name she’s called her own for the past 24 years.

”At the outset, it hurts to hear something like that, but at the end of the day, it’s never going to happen. It’s a real shame Dina would make up this kind of story. From the time she came out to California, she’s tried to put a wedge between Lindsay and me,” the elder Lohan remarked upon learning the news. “Every time she comes around, she tries to put a wedge, and it’s only harmful to Lindsay and the children. This family needs therapy.”

Well, we second that.

Futhermore, Michael says, the Lohan is a badge of honor around the family’s homebase of Long Island, NY. Sort of like a herpes flare-up.

“I’m proud of the Lohan name. It’s a name of integrity. We all had very successful jobs on Wall Street. My father was an unbelievable provider. My sisters are pillars of the community. There’s not a blemish in my family outside of me.”
