Step away, Ladies: Michael Vartan is officially taken — furthering confirming the age-old urban legend that all the cute ones are either married or gay!
The star of Drew Barrymore’ rom-com Never Been Kissed wed his longtime girlfriend Lauren Skaar in a ritzy ceremony at The Resort at Pelican Hill in Orange County on Saturday, a rep for the newlyweds confirmed to PEOPLE over the weekend.
“I am thrilled to confirm the wedding of Michael Vartan and Lauren Skaar! It was an intimate and heartfelt ceremony witnessed by their family and closest friends!”
Michael wore a tux by Giorgio Armani during the ceremony, while actor Victor Garber – Michael’s former Alias co-star – stood by his side as a groomsmen, according to the mag. Lauren was every bit the blushing bride in a gown by Vera Wang, paired with a sparkling Oscar de la Renta belt.
It likely be a short honeymoon for the lovers: Michael’s set to return to work on Tuesday.
“Just bad luck with the timing,” says Vartan, who currently has a lead role alongside Jada Pinkett-Smith on the basic cable medical drama Hawthorne. “But at least we have three months to plan something very romantic.”
Vartan met his new wife two years ago in the fruit aisle of a Los Angeles Whole Foods.
“I saw her in the produce section and I thought to myself, ‘I’ve gotta find a way — I’ve got to jockey position in this checkout line or something,’” Michael recounted in an interview with Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush back in May. “I saw her and I was I was quite stunned.”
Unable to muster up enough mojo to approach her in the store, Michael finally made his move out in the parking lot
“As I was leaving, I saw her putting her groceries into the trunk of her car and I just thought, ‘This is it, man!’ Life’s too short! I was like a blubbering idiot. I didn’t really know what to do.”
