Preity Zinta is making a come back – With her IPL team King's XI Punjab, in films, and even on TV.
The gutsy 36-year-old Himchali lass has fought her way up after being down in the dumps. Confronted by legal challenge to the participation of King's XI in IPL, and a break down of her relationship with Kings XI co-owner Ness Wadia, at one point Preity was ready to quit and sell the team.
But then the fortunes turned. Her team not only remained in IPL, it is winning matches now. Reminded about the reports that she had contemplated selling her team, Preity tells TOI in an interview:
"Well, if you ask me now, I will say never. C'mon, after so much hard work, we will never think of it. Team Punjab is our baby and who sells their children?"
Preity maybe a business tycoon now, albeit just a cricket loving one, but her roots are in Bollywood. She is best known for her performances in critically acclaimed films such as a Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), and commercial successes like Koi... Mil Gaya (2003) and Veer-Zaar (2004).
Asked if she had plans other than IPL, Preity said:
"My loyalties are with the team and I'll travel for all the matches. I have this TV show happening, and there are two movies that are in the pipeline. I am super busy, but enjoying it."
Preity co-hosts the TV show - Guinness World Records- Ab India Todega - with actor Shabbir Ahluwalia on Colors TV channel.
Following her break-up with Ness, Preity was romantically linked to cricketer Yuvraj Singh, then captain of her team. Yuv Raj now captains Pune Warriors.
Quizzed on past reports of her link-up with Yuvraj, Preity said:
"I was zapped when that happened. The issue was hyped even when there wasn't anything. I feel sad when people jump the gun and get judgmental."
