Javed Jaffrey's Nasty Finale to Double Dhamaal Filming

Javed Jaffrey injured his knee on the set of Indra Kumar's comedy Double Dhamaal during the wrap up scene at Mehboob Studios.

Javed had earlier hurt his thumb during the filming.

During the filming of first Dhamaal (2007), Javed had hurt his leg.

The 47-year-old comic actor/dancer plays beanie donning Manav in the film. He is seen mimicking Shah Rukh Khan in the film.

The story goes that the team needed to shoot just one final scene, a song titled Chill Maaro, at Mehboob Studios. However just before the final scene Javed broke his leg and had to be admitted to a hospital. The actor was in such pain that the Director/producer Indra Kumar and co-producer Ashok Thackeria immediately altered the scene and showed all the actors lying on the bed.

Producer Ashok Thackeria confirmed the incident, "The film on its last leg…. Javed jumped on the bed very hard and his knee and the ligament below the knee cap tore very badly. We immediately took him to Lilavati as we were in Mehboob Studios...the doctors examined him after X-Rays were taken… Luckily it was not a major injury but he was in immense pain to say the least. Despite the pain, Javed insisted we finish the shoot and hence we then changed the scene with the four boys together on the bed. Javed was brought with a leg support and crutches to the shooting floor, and we wrapped up the shoot and celebrated later on with Jaaved and the entire team!"

The actor says that the Doctor has advised a surgery to treat the ligament tear which is quite bad. His surgery is scheduled for June 1.

Everyone on the set was much concerned about Javed, as he was in excruciating pain, but at the same time the unit also took it as a lucky charm as the first film was a super hit at box-office.

Headlining stars getting hurt on set is considered lucky for the film in Bollywood. Hrithik Roshan got hurt twice on Agneepath set, Shahid Kapoor hurt himself twice on Mausam set and both the films' production units anticipate their films to do well at Box Office.

The Dhamaal sequel, which additionally stars Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Kangana Ranaut, Mallika Sherawat and Ashish Chowdhry, is due for release on June 24. The film will have its world premiere in Toronto during IIFA 2011.

Asin Floral Flirty at Provogue Bash

Asin enchanted in a flouncy print skirt and white top at Provogue Store on May 26 at Inorbit Malad to plug her upcoming film Ready headlining Salman Khan.

Asin, 25, rocked a black skirt with pink, white and green floral print and wide elasticated waist band. She paired it with a white long sleeve top.

She accessorized with glossy black platform pumps, heart necklace and stud earrings.

Her hair, styled in luscious vertical waves and side parting, draped her shoulders.

She wore pink and silver eye shadows, thick eyeliner on lids and false lashes. Shimmering pink lipstick and pink nail polish rounded her charming looks.

The 3rd Rock Entertainment organized event was staged at the Food Court. The event exploded with Flash Mob dancers appearing from different sides, revving-up the audience to READY hit songs "Character Dheela Hai" and "Dhinkchika".

Asin made a big entrance, joining with the dancers and shaking a leg with them.

Provogue teamed up with Ready producers T-Series and Sohail Khan Production to host the high energy music and dance party, rocking the crowd with music of the film.

With Salman Khan absent, the event was an out right Asin show. Past promotional events for the film have focused exclusively on Salman, just as the movie reportedly revolves around him completely.

Asin recently said she is perfectly happy playing second fiddle to Salman as the film is largely his show.

"When a film stars Salman Khan, it is but natural that the script is written to accentuate his presence in the film. It is also logical to have the film revolve around him. The same has to reflect in the promos as well where his style and mannerisms are exposed to the audience," Asin told PTI.

Asin and Salman will be in Dubai on June 1 for the world premiere of Ready, which opens in theaters on June 3.

Shah Rukh Khan Connects With Priyanka Chopra, Fans

Shah Rukh Khan met with Don 2 co-star Priyanka Chopra at Mehboob Studios in Bandra, Mumbai on Wednesday, May 25, evening wearing his IPL Team Kolkata Knight Riders' T-Shirt.

Also on Wednesday, Shah Rukh connected with his fans with a Facebook video post for the first time giving them an update on what has been going on in his life lately – his daughter's birthday, IPL matches and Ra.One trailer.

Ra.One's trailer he said would release by the end of May, or early in June.

A Budget Heroine Aishwarya Rai

Aishwarya Rai has reportedly agreed to take a pay cut for her role in Madhur Bhandarkar directed Heroine, in exchange for a share in the film's profit.

The grim box office performance of Bollywood films this year has prompted Heroine producers UTV and Bhandarkar Entertainment to budget their film at a very frugal Rs 18 crore, according to the Mumbai Mirror.

Besides Aishwarya, Arjun Rampal and Bhandarkar (sure!) have agreed to pay cuts and profit sharing.

Going by the success of Bhandarkar's past films - Chandni Bar (2001), Page 3 (2005), Traffic Signal (2007), and Fashion (2008) – 'Heroine' Aishwarya and Arjun are unlikely to lose money on the project. Besides, it is not as if they had to drop other films to sign on for Heroine!

"We have worked very successfully with Madhur in the past. Getting a film made within the right budget is crucial to insuring its commercial success. On Heroine too, we have insured the same," Siddharth Roy Kapoor, CEO, UTV Motion Pictures, tells the Mumbai Mirror.

Aishwarya Rai, Madhur Bhandarkar and UTV's Ronnie Screwvala announced Heroine at the 64th Cannes Festival on May 13, 2011.

Heroine will be the first film to team Aishwarya with talented director Madhur Bhandarkar.

Still Looking Out for Katrina Kaif

When Salman Khan arrived two hours late at a press meet to announce a concert to promote his upcoming film Ready on Friday, May 20, he wasn't being disrespectful to journalists, he was being respectful to Katrina Kaif.

Salman was to arrive at his presser at Hotel Novotel in Juhu, Mumbai at 2 PM, but arrived past 4 PM. No one complained, which is surprising since we are talking about journalists here!

Here is why: Many of the journalists covering Salman's presser were also assigned to cover Katrina Kaif's Etihaad Airways media meet at Taj Palace Hotel in Colaba in far away South Mumbai at 12 pm. Salman's event was in Suburban Western Mumbai and the travel time between the two venues is at least an hour and a half.

Salman didn't want journos to leave Katrina's event early in order to make sure they didn't miss his event. So he discretely sent feelers to the journos, through his PR folks: Give Katrina your full attention and leave only when the event ended. I will be waiting!

Shobhaa De takes a dig at Minissha

Columnist and novelist Shobhaa De, known for her sharp tongue, took a dig at Bollywood actress Minissha Lamba, who was detained by customs authorities in Mumbai airport for carrying undeclared jewellery worth Rs.50 lakh while returning from her much-hyped visit to the Cannes International Film Festival.”Poor Minissha: Lamba race ki ghodi or lame duck? Warning to other Bollywood wannabes to leave those borrowed rocks at home. Dazzle wt yr talent (sic),” De posted on her Twitter page.Minissha, who was in Cannes to attend the premiere of Woody Allen’s “Midnight in Paris”, was detained at the Mumbai international airport Wednesday.De has had a history of tweeting about Bollywood celebrities, and has previously taken digs at director Punit Malhotra, actress Sonam Kapoor and actor-producer Arbaaz Khan.

Priyanka Chopra, Dharmendra, Bobby Deol and Neha Dhupia added star power to the IIFA Awards 2011 presser at Mumbai's Hotel Grand Hyatt on Thursday, May 19.

Former Miss World Priyanka Chopra, 28, made sure everyone gave her a dekho, wearing black liner on her eyelids, berry lip color and a light blusher on the cheeks. She chose a white sleeveless one-shouldered top with ruching and paired it with a gold embroidered mini-skirt.

A pair of white open-toed skinny heels did double duty, elongating the Chopra legs while matching with the summer top.

A ring and bangle polished off the look nicely. Her mane of hair was parted sideways, showing off a glowing skin.

Neha Dhupia echoed shades of the look, going for a short-sleeved white blouse, knee-length black skirt, nude pumps, and a silver lariat necklace.

At the event the Deols and Priyanka discussed their upcoming performances during the 12th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards to be held in Toronto from June 23 through June 25.

Sounding upbeat about her planned performance, Priyanka said, "I have performed in almost every award functions this year so would like to do something different in IIFA."

As for the Deols' performance at the Awards, Bobby said, "We will of course perform on Yamla Pagla Deewana songs. We would also choose some songs from dad's films on which we can perform."

Katrina Kaif wore a fresh and frothy white halter dress at Etihad Airways press conference to announce the winner of the Next Stop Bollywood Dance Competition on Friday noon, May 20 at Hotel Taj Palace in Colaba, Mumbai.

Katrina's knee length swingy georgette Monisha Jaising dress had a black high neck and black swarovski floral accents in the front.

She paired her gorgeous dress with black lace overlay peep toes with a bow top.

The 26-year-old face of the UAE national airline looked endearing with her Barbie inspired hair styled in shoulder draping vertical curls and asymmetrical side parting.

She looked uncharacteristically flirtatious with the bright makeup: thick eyeliner, red eye shadow, eyelash extension, pink lipstick and pink blush. Red toe nails perfectly rounded her scorching hot looks.

Oh! Did you hear? Inspired by her biker's role in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Katrina plans to buy a bike to zip around Mumbai. So watch out for her and the potholes on Mumbai roads this Monsoon! Who knows, she and Gul Panag may form Mumbai's first female bike gang!

"Though I did get comfortable riding a Royal Enfield for the film, I'm looking to buy a medium-weight bike for the in-city travel," Kaif told HT.

Salman Khan Plans Live Concert to Promote Ready

Salman Khan will take center stage at the 'Ready Live Mad Concert' on June 2, in Mumbai to plug his upcoming film Ready, a day before its release, it was announced at a presser on May 20.

Salman not only takes a lot of interest in the production of his films, he appears to have mastered the art of promoting them like no one else.

First, Salman, 45, helped create a strong buzz about Ready by leveraging his success in Dabangg. Next, the release of the film's catchy music heightened the buzz. Now, with the concert, Salman wants to ratchet up the hype to a fever pitch ensuring a huge box-office opening for the film.

At the presser, Salman looked chilled in a Being Human purple tee, dark blue jeans, his signature glossy dress shoes, and a Being Human watch. We loved his neat cropped hair and clean shaven look.

Rock band Trip Recipe and DJs Shibani Kashyap and Ramji Gulati will keep the audience entertained.

Composer Pritam, singer Tulsi Kumar and Neeraj Sridhar will give company to Salman on stage.

In a statement to the press, Salman said:

"It feels great when you have mass adulation. That is what keeps us actors alive. On stage, you sense this love and affection instantaneously. As an entertainer, I thoroughly enjoy the experience and want everyone to enjoy the same as well. I am looking forward to the concert," said Salman at the presser.

Asin, the leading lady in the film, was a no show at the presser, but will be part of the concert.

The three-hour long concert will start at 6 pm at the Tulip Star Hotel, Juhu. It will be attended by 10,000 fans, picked through contests being held at Planet M and Provogue outlets around the city.

The concert will be co-hosted by T-Series, 3rd Rock Entertainment, Provogue India and Agni Jewels. (3rd Rock Entertainment had hosted Abhishek Bachchan's Dum Maro Dum concert last month.)

The event will also feature a fashion extravaganza with 40 models strutting their stuff.

Shahid Kapoor Resumes Mausam Wrap Up Shoot

Shahid Kapoor resumed filming for Mausam after five day break to nurse a hand injury sustained on set on May 15 and first reported by Sawfnews.com.

"Back on set MAUSAM .. Last 5 days 25th I wrap the film ....." Shahid tweeted May 20, afternoon.

As Sawfnews.com first reported Shahid injured his hand in an accident when a giant wheel fell on his hand during the shoot at Jogeshwari in Mumbai on May 15. He immediately was immediately taken to ER and treated. He was advised to rest for a few days and allowed to go home.

If not for that accident, Shahid would have been done with the shoot today.

On May 14 he tweeted:

"On set mausam .... Last 5 days http://yfrog.com/h25wfxtj" along with his photo on the set which seemed like a night shoot.

Sonam Kapoor, the female lead in the film, is not part of this patch work schedule.

A year in making, Pankaj Kapoor's romance drama is due for release on July 22. The film will clash on Box Office with Ajay Devgan's Singham, a cop thriller, due for release on same day.

Shahid dedicated the entire 2010 and half of 2011 to Mausam. Late last year he started looking for his next projects and has signed up two films - Sajid Nadiadwala production Heer Aur Ranjha to be directed by Sabir Khan and Kunal Kohli's untitled film with co-star Priyanka Chopra.

Anushka Sharma Gets Racy for Ricky

Anushka Sharma shed some of her girl-next-door image by opting for racy attire while posing with Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl co-star Ranveer Singh for two new publicity photos for the film.

The pictures, taken during the film's ongoing Goa schedule, show Anushka, 23, showing lot of skin in tiny white hot pants, midriff baring plunging coral top, and beach sandals.

The 5' 9" tall hottie is seen posing seductively next to Ranveer, 25, who looks a bit over clothed for the beach but nevertheless hot in Grey cargo pants and white wrap over top.

In the film, Ranveer plays a smooth and charming conman who cons girls for a living but finally meets his match.

The film additionally stars Parineeti Chopra, Dipannita Sharma and Aditi Sharma.

Habib Faisal has written the dialogs and Devika Bhagat the screen play. Salim-Sulaiman have scored the music. Lyrics are by Amitabh Bhattacharya. The film is being shot by Aseem Mishra (DOP). All of the crew have been a part of the Band Baaja Baaraat team.

The film is planned for a December 9 release worldwide, the same weekend on which Band Baaja Baaraat was released.

Double Dhamaal First Look They Are All Back

Double Dhamaal, the sequel to the 2007 laugh riot Dhamaal, is all set to entertain audiences all over India on June 24!

The film's presenters, Reliance Entertainment and Maruti International, have released the theatrical trailer and first look posters of the film, and from the look of them you will have to leave your brain at home before stepping out to go to the theater.

The film headlines Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Ashish Chowdhry and Jaaved Jaaferi, along with Mallika and Kangana; so expect some oomph along with the laughs.

The film starts from where Dhamaal ends. Four boys Adi (Arshad), Manav (Jaaved), Roy (Riteish) and Boman (Ashish), unknowingly donate all their money in the end of previous film. Now, as they sit and curse their luck they come across Kabir (Sanjay Dutt), who was previously their partner in crime, is living a luxurious life. What follows is a comical tale of plots and plans as the four boys try their luck at easy money, once again! This time around they are accompanied by two alluring women Kamini (Mallika) and Kiya (Kangana)!

The film is produced by Ashok Thakeria and Indra Kumar, and directed by Indra Kumar.

Kareena Kapoor Accompanying Saif Ali Khan to London for 'Cocktail' Shoot

Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan are jetting to London today for the filming of Homi Adjania directed Cocktail.

No, Kareena and Saif are not the lead stars of the film; Saif and Deepika Padukone are.

Kareena is accompanying Saif in the capacity of his partner.

This year Deepika is doing three films with Saif. Besides the soon to be released Aarakshan, there is Cocktail and Abbas Mustan's Race 2. You would think that would cause Kareena to become insecure.

During a recent tête à tête with Sawfnews.com, Deepika assured us that she was being frequently paired with Saif only because they rocked in Love Aaj Kal (2009), and producers now consider them a lucky and successful screen couple.

Kareena is not in the least bit concerned over the frequent pairing, Deepika said, and any report that Kareena is, is pure media speculation.

So folks, we are not suggesting any insecurities on the part of Kareena, even though we are hearing about them from a source.

We are just reporting that Kareena will be in London with Saif for 10 days of the month long Cocktail schedule.

Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha's Sheer Delight in 'Joker'

Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha wow in this exclusive still from their upcoming 3-D sci-fi film Joker, directed by Shirish Kunder. The still made available exclusively to Sawfnews.com exudes warmth and joy that immediately enlivens the spirit.

The entire cast and crew of the film is back on set for the second schedule of the film after a break of two months. The 10 day schedule will last through May 26.

Shirish tells Sawfnews.com that he is lensing the film in a fantasy forest created in Film City, Mumbai. The set has cost the producers a whopping Rs 3crores.

"We'll be canning 20 minutes of the film in this schedule," says Shirish.

Most of the shoot will be during nights.

"From today, we are shooting all nights till the 26th of this month." Shirish tweeted on day two of the shoot.

Sonakshi shared her excitement over getting back with team Joker over Twitter:

"Joker second schedule starts tomorrow! Can't wait to get back to the madness. Even if the calltime is 6 am :p" she tweeted on May 16 late night.

And hours later she tweeted:

"2 hours into the shoot and already can't control the laughter!"

The film is being co-produced by Akshay Kumar, Farah Khan and her helmer husband Kunder. It additionally stars Shreyas Talpade, Minissha Lamba, Javed Jafferi, Alexx ONell, Vindu Dara Singh, Asrani and Sonal Chauhan.

The first schedule of Joker began on Valentine's Day in Chandigarh and wrapped on March 12. During the 27 day shoot Kunder canned 40% of the film.

Joker is due for release on December 25.

Abhay Deol and Preeti Desai Getting Engaged Soon

Abhay Deol and girlfriend Preeti Desai are reportedly ready to take their relationship to the next level; they plan to get engaged later this month or early June.

A source told TOI:

"Preeti and Abhay are with each other around the clock, despite having separate addresses. There has been a death in the family (Dharmendra's elder sister passed away) and that's why they are not rushing their engagement. When the family overcomes the sorrow, Abhay and Preeti will exchange rings, maybe later this month or in June."

Preeti, Miss Great Britain 2006, was born and brought up in the UK. She moved to Mumbai in 2008 for some modeling assignments.

Abhay, 35, and Preeti first met at the success party of Dev D in February 2009 and it was love at first sight.

In mid 2009, Abhay went to the US for a few months; during his absence from the country, there were reports of strains in his relationship with Preeti. Things became better after Abhay returned to India later in the year.

Starting 2010 the pair was often seen together at Awards and red carpet events.

In September, there were reports of Abhay and Preeti living together in his Juhu flat.

Preeti visited Abhay in Spain during the filming of Zoya Akhtar's Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

Preeti made her Bollywood debut with Ekta Kapoor production Shor In The City that released on April 28.

Abhay is currently busy with promotions of Zoya Akhtar's Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, due for release on July 15.

Saif To Romance Deepika In Cocktail

Actor Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone are pairing up again for a love story, this time directed by Homi Adajania.

The film is tentatively titled Cocktail.

“This year we will be seen together in three films – Aarakshan, Race 2 and then Homi’s Cocktail,” Saif said.

Earlier, Saif and Deepika were paired together in Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal in 2009.

“This is not something that we had planned to do, it just happened. So in each movie now we are making efforts to look and act differently. This is a challenge,” Saif said.

To be produced by Saif’s production company Illuminati Films, Cocktail also stars sister Soha Ali Khan’s beau Kunal Khemmu.

Learning ‘Shudh’ Hindi Was Tough, Says Deepika

Actress Deepika Padukone, who is charged up for Prakash Jha’s Aarakshan, which is based on the issue of reservation, says that learning ‘shud’ (chaste) Hindi was a difficult task.

“Considering the desi touch of the film, the language that the film demanded was difficult. This film it is not a regular Hindi film like Love Aaj Kal or some of my earlier films. This film demanded chaste Hindi and I had to work hard on this aspect before the dubbing started,” Deepika said.

For portraying the character in Aarakshan, Deepaka was required to speak pure Hindi as well as Sanskrit, which made the leggy actress take lessons to improve her Hindi diction.

Directed by Jha, the movie is centered on Supreme Court’s order on reservations and how it affects the lives of the characters in the film. The film has a star-cast of bigwigs like Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Manoj Bajpai with Prateik Babbar and Deepika in pivotal roles.

Aarakshan is the story of Prabhakar Anand (Amitabh) who is an idealistic principal of a college. His disciple Deepak Kumar (Saif) can do anything for Prabhakar, is in love with Prabhakar’s daughter Poorbi (Deepika). The role of Deepak’s loyal friend Sushant is played by Prateik.

About her role, Deepika said, “I play Poorbi Anand, who is very independent. She knows her mind well, but finds herself in conflict when it comes to her family, father and friends. The character does not know which direction to follow. The issue the film addresses itself is different from the films I have done before.”

Deepika Padukone Ravishes at Aarakshan Presser

Deepika Padukone tormented in a low-cur maxi dress plugging her upcoming film Aarakshan with co-star Saif Ali Khan at a presser at WTF cafe on Monday May 16 in Mumbai's Andheri district.

The two posed for photos dressed in casuals.

Deepika chose a trendy dress in shocking pink and wore her hair back in a half updo, going for a girl-next-door look. Her eyes, cheekbones, and mouth were all done in dusky colors which set off a perfect skin tone.

Deeps completed the look with understated gold earrings and bracelets, toe-ring golden sandals and pink toenails.

The Neutrogena spokesmodel seems to glide from event to event without missing a beat.

The pair's release, also starring Amitabh Bachchan, is set for August 12 while Deepika has Desi Boyz, costarring John Abraham and Akshay Kumar launching on November 25.

Hirthik Roshan's Just Dance First Look Video: Mind Blowing and MJ-ish

Hrithik Roshan is seen making some jaw dropping dance moves in the first look video of Star TV's upcoming dance reality show Just Dance

Hrithik posted a link to the video on his Twitter account and plugged the show with the tweet:

"Hey guys, my new music video for @JustDance_India will be premiering on Tuesday, May 17th at 12pm. Catch the webcast on www.starplus.in"

Rumor has it that Hrithik is being paid Rs 2 crore per episode of Just Dance, which would make him the highest paid TV host.

Salman Khan was the highest paid so far; he pocketed Rs 2.5 crore for two Bigg Boss 4 episodes, which he shot together on a weekend.

Filming for the Star Plus show began in April 2011.
