Ashley Hebert Is The New “Bachelorette”

Hebert, a 26-year-old dentistry student whose romance with “Bachelor” Brad Womack fell apart after a trip to South Africa on the show’s 15th season, was named the newest face of The Bachelorette franchise shortly after Brad gave his “Final Rose” to Charlotte single mom Emily Maynard on Monday night’s Bachelor finale.

Ashley, the youngest of three siblings, is a native of Maine. In fact, at 18 she was crowned Maine’s 2002 Junior Miss and received a scholarship after competing in America’s Junior Miss pageant. A lifelong lover of dance, Hebert is captain of the dance team at the University of Maine, where she’ll graduate summa cum laude with a 3.96 GPA in May.

Confirmation that the petite brunette is the next “Bachelorette” was announced on ABC’s late-night staple Jimmy Kimmel Live” overnight, but many loyal Bachelor viewers began suspecting Ashley might be the next series castaway to get a second shot at love after she debuted a glammed-up appearance on The Bachelor: The Women Tell All earlier this month. In an unusual twist, Ashley narrowly missed a chance to complete the Final Rose Ceremony after a heart-to-hear with Brad, during which Ashley admitted she had trouble communicating her feelings to a partner.

Reality fans can only hope those fears fall be the wayside before this spring.

The Bachelorette premieres Monday, May 23 @ 9 PM/ET. (Encore Presentation: May 30 8 PM/ET.)
