Lady Gaga VS Beyonce

They’ve been crowned Forbes Magazine’s two “Most Powerful Women in Music” and even shared the spotlight on the smash collaboration “Telephone,” but The Rumor Mill is abuzz with whispers that success has chopped and screwed the once solid friendship between Lady Gaga and her old chum Beyonce.

At least that’s the story The National Enquirer is telling.

The two superstars joined forces on Gaga’s hit in 2010 and the song shot to the top of pop charts around the globe — thanks in large part to its controversial Thelma & Louise themed music video. The success of “Telephone” was so staggering that the “Poker Face” hitmaker swore off any further collaborations, adamant that no future collaborator could come close to The Divine Sasha Fierce.

Beyonce, on the other hand, has grown increasingly frustrated at Gaga’s penchant for snatching the spotlight at public events. First, there was the infamous “Beef Jerky Dress” that made its big debut at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. And how could we forget Gaga showing up as a hard-boiled egg ahead of her performance at last month’s Grammys. It’s all just a bit too over-the-cukoo’s nest for the former Child of Destiny.

“The bad blood between Beyonce and Gaga has been brewing for months, but it really exploded after the Grammy Awards in February,” spills a source-type with ties to both songstresses. “Beyonce believes that musicians should let their talent do the talking and she finds it really tacky that Gaga constantly tries to one-up everyone with her ridiculous fashion statements.”

The “Single Ladies” singer reportedly ignored the New York-bred Gaga backstage at the prestigious awards show, which we hear “enraged” music’s kookiest lady. The quietly-simmering feud — coupled with the scheduled release of Gaga’s hotly-anticipated Born This Way LP this May — has paved the perfect opportunity for Beyonce to blow the “LoveGame” singer out of the pop waters with the debut of some new tunes of her own.

“She’s telling people that she wants to take Gaga down a few pegs.”

Gaga — whose real name, in case you were wondering, is Stefani Germanotta — isn’t taking Mrs. Knowles-Carter’s alleged disses on the chin. In her estimation, Beyonce’s “just another jealous hater.”

“At this point, Gaga is used to people criticizing her. It’s a part of being successful, but she never expected it from Beyonce, who she saw as a friend and supporter,” tipster in Gaga’s camp claims. “Gaga plans to confront her the next time they run into each other and demand an apology.”
