Taylor Swift's Third Album First Week Sales Exceed 1 million

Taylor Swift's third studio album, Speak Now, sold 1,047,000 copies during its first week, the biggest opening for an album in five years.

Rapper 50 Cent's "The Massacre" bowed at No. 1 with 1,141,000 in March 2005.

Only 16 albums have achieved the distinction since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking music sales in 1991. These include albums from Lil Wayne, Britney Spears, Whitney Houston, Norah Jones and N'Sync.
