Manjari Phadnis got a little help from Aamir Khan to bag the lead role in Walt Disney production Zokkomon.
Phadnis featured opposite Imran Khan in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (2008) and managed to impress the film's producer, Aamir Khan, with her short but impactful role.
Aamir didn't forget the 23-year-old model turned actor and recommended her to pal Satyajit Bhatkal (Lagaan production team member) when he started scouting around for a female lead for for his directorial debut, Zokkomon!
Bhatkal, who is the author of "Spirit of Lagaan" and National Award winning director of the short film "Chale Chalo" produced by Aamir Khan, promptly agreed.
The pretty actress plays lead in the action adventure film with Darsheel Safary and Anupam Kher.
Co-incidentally, Manjari's character in Zokkomon is very similar to Aamir's in Taare Zameen Par: a mentor and guide to an orphaned Darsheel who helps him in his journey,
Zokkomon is due for release on April 22.
