Salman Khan: Classy and Casual at Global Indian Music Awards 2010


Salman Khan made a standout style statement in a blue ghingham shirt, hound's tooth coat and jeans at Global Indian Music Awards 2010 at Yashraj studios in Mumbai on November 10.

Salman's entry triggered a flash frenzy from photogs and shout-outs from fans. He was at his affable best posing for photographs and answering media questions with labored patience.

The Dabangg star performed to songs from the film; he told the media that he considered the popularity of the songs as a just award for them.

Salman enthusiastically supports the GIMA awards. Songs are an integral part of Indian films, he explained. Before a film's release, its songs serve as powerful promos.

'Bina music ke hamari picturein shayad na chalein,' he said.

Music awards were long due, he added.

Actors Shreyas Talpade and Dia Mirza along with filmmaker Sajid Khan hosted the show.

Others who performed at the event included Kareena Kapoor, Ritesh Deshmukh, Shankar Mahadevan, Loy Mendonsa, Salim-Suleiman, Leslie Lewis and Shantanu Moitra.

Lata Mungeshkar was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Other music legends attending the show included Chevrolet GIMA goodwill ambassador Asha Bhosle, AR Rahman, lyricist Javed Akhtar, Shankar Mahadevan, Usha Uthup, Ustad Rashid Khan, Shaan, Sonu Nigam, Pt. Vishva Mohan Bhatt, Talat Aziz, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghoshal and Salim-Suleiman.
