Demi Lovato reportedly grew close to Wilmer Valderrama following her split with Joe Jonas in May, and he remained a part of her life till she entered rehab.
Lovato, who was the opening act of a currently underway Jonas Brothers tour, checked into a treatment center earlier this month "to seek medical treatment for emotional and physical issues she has dealt with for some time."
Lovato's decision was partly prompted by a physical alteration that she got into with a female dancer on the tour at an airport in Peru.
A source on the tour told Page Six, "The two started seeing each other in May right after her breakup with Jonas. She would show us pictures of them together."
Lovato, 18, first connected with Valderrama, 30, when they filmed an earthquake relief public service ad together in Chile in March, says another Page Six source.
Before she entered rehab, Lovato introduced Valderrama as her boyfriend to her friends.
Lovato's rep refused to comment on the Page Six story, while Valderrama's rep denied a relationship.
