Former Miss California USA Carrie Prejean is expecting a baby with NFL husband Kyle Boller, FOX411 reports. The two were married in July.
“We are just so excited,” Prejean, three months pregnant, told FOX on Wednesday. “I’m due in May, on my grandmother’s birthday. She recently passed away, so that’s very special to us.”
It will be the first child for Prejean, 23, and Boller, 29. The parents-to-be hope to learn the sex of the baby next week. The couple said they began trying for a family about a month after marrying.
“I’m trying to stay healthy, but it has been tough. I’ve been getting night sickness,” Prejean said. “We’ve started thinking about names, but we are keeping it to ourselves for right now. It has been fun looking at baby books.”
Boller said: “I have the most beautiful pregnant wife ever. We are so in love and this was just the best news when we found out a couple of weeks ago.”
Boller met Prejean in 2009, shortly after she caused quite a stir with comments opposing same-sex marriage (in favor of the “opposite” kind, she later said) at the 2009 Miss USA pageant.
When asked by Perez Hilton to reveal her stance on gay marriage, she replied: “I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised.”
Despite a considerable amount of bad publicity, pageant owner Donald Trump initially stood by Prejean until she began booking speaking engagements outside of her beauty queen duties. In June 2009, Trump stripped her of her sash, citing “continued breach of contract issues.”
Prejean sued pageant officials for religious discrimination, but withdrew the lawsuit in November when an “extremely graphic” sex tape — a solo performance, apparently — was revealed to exist. Since then, Prejean has written a book, joined the public speaking circuit and made numerous TV appearances, including a notorious visit to ‘Larry King Live’ where she threatened to walk off.
