Taylor Swift Honored at 2010 BMI Country Music Awards

Taylor Swift, 20, became the youngest person ever to win the BMI Country Songwriter of the Year award on Tuesday night, November 9, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Bill Anderson won the honor in 1960 at the age of 23, and Johnny Cash, in 1956 at 24.

Swift was honored with the award for her self-recorded compositions "Fifteen," "White Horse" and "You Belong With Me," as well as "Best Days of Your Life," recorded by Kellie Pickler.

"You Belong With Me" also earned Swift her third consecutive BMI Country Song of the Year award, making her the only songwriter ever to win the honor three years in a row.

Swift, who recently lost a personal friend, said of the award last night, "It's been a really emotional week for me."

Taylor Swift's third album, Speak Now, which dropped worldwide on October 25, sold 1,047,000 copies during its first week, the biggest opening for an album in five years.

'Speak Now' comprises 14 tracks, all of them written by Swift.

Swift plans a world tour in support of the album in 2011 with 85 shows planned in 18 countries.
