PEOPLE Mag tattles are spilling the soup on the “emotional and physical issues” that sent Disney darling Demi Lovato into a treatment center for depression over the weekend.
The “Demi, you in danger, gurl!” lightbulb went off for Lovato after the singer/actress flipped into Full Bitch Mode and nearly got into a physical fight with one of the dancers on her tour. Family insiders say the 18-year-old beauty has long struggled with cutting and eating disorders and having a tough time coming to terms with the childhood bullying that destroyed her self-confidence, Demi knew it was time to make a change.
“She was bullied in school,” the snoop tells PEOPLE. “She fought through eating disorders and has struggled with cutting… Demi is taking control by getting help…Like many other teenage girls, she struggled a lot to fit in and find acceptance,” the friend adds. “She’s very sensitive, very intuitive and that is part of what makes her a wonderful performer – very talented. It is double-edged sword. I think she felt that the hard time she had [in school], problems with kids who were incredibly vicious made her stronger. But none of us feels strong every day.”
