Britney Spears Domestic Abuse Claim 'laughable,' says rep

Britney Spears' rep on Wednesday, December 1, termed a Star magazine report that Britney Spears and Jason Trawick had split because he had beaten her as "utterly false."

Trawick "has never laid a hand on Britney," the rep says.

Star Magazine in its cover story this week reports that Britney Spears told Jason Alexander, her first husband, that Trawick had hit her so hard that she got a black eye.

Alexander, whose marriage to Britney in Las Vegas in 2004 lasted 55-hour, told Star magazine that he secretly recorded a telephone call to him from Britney on October 10, in which she "told me that he hit her so hard it gave her a black eye."

"She said she couldn't even leave the house for a week because of the bruising," he added.

A tape, purported to be a recording of Britney's call to Jason Alexander, has been published on Radar Online. In it, Alexander is heard asking Britney:

"How's your problems with your fiancé?"

"That (bleep) is not my fiancé," the woman on the phone replies.

"I thought he proposed to you or something at the beach."

"Before or after he beat on me?"

According to Britney's rep:

"The statements attributed to Jason Alexander are a complete fabrication as Britney has not had any form of communication with Mr. Alexander in years."

The rep adds that Star Magazine was informed that the story was bogus before it went to print, but it still went ahead with it.

"Britney Spears' legal team will be taking legal action against all of the appropriate parties," the rep adds.

Britney's manager Larry Rudolph denies that the female voice in the published recording is Spears.

An independent audio expert who has heard the tapes agrees.

The expert tells TMZ:

"Listening to the phonetics, it doesn't appear to be authentic. The mannerisms in her voice just don't match up."
