Will Emma Stone ride the Red-Head Wave of Success into a turn as Mary-Jane Watson in Paramount’s buzzed-about Spider-Man reboot?
The Easy A actress is reportedly the first choice to play the love interest of web slinger Peter Parker alongside DeadlineHollywood.com has learned.
Sony Pictures Entertainment “will imminently offer the role” of Mary-Jane to Stone, whose recent credits include Zombieland, Deadline reports.
Stone edged out The Blind Side’s Lily Collins, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice actress Teresa Palmer and Mia Wasikowska, of Alice in Wonderland fame, to snag the role of Mary-Jane alongside new Spider-Man Andrew Garfield. Emma, 21, is also reportedly being eyed for the 21 Jump Street big screen reboot of the ‘80’s television series starring Johnny Depp and Holly Robinson Peete (Eww…).
Emma is next slated to star in the Justin Timberlake-assisted comedy Friends With Benefits, slated to hit theaters in July 2011. She’ll also appear in The Help with Oscar-nominated actress Viola Davis and Twilight’s Bryce Dallas Howard, opening next April.
Marc Webb’s 3D reboot of the Spider-Man franchise is due for release in the Summer of 2012.
