One of India’s most expensive films to date ($32m), starring aging super star Rajinikanth. People go nuts for this guy – even praying to life size cutouts of the man, and his bouffant. If you think of all the most extreme bits of The Matrix, iRobot, Star Wars….err, any other sci-fi, film, and then double it and add some singing… then you’re almost there with how over the top this movie is…The dude has machine guns for hands, and his robot nemesis helps deliver a baby, shortly before assembling an army to take down mankind… again helped along by a big musical number. And the outfits? Insane. Don’t even get me started on Rajini’s costumes… The Lycra catsuits wouldn’t look out of place in downtown San Francisco, put it that way.
