Prince made a brief announcement that he will be commencing his new tour - Welcome 2 America - in December 2010 at a presser in New York's Apollo Theater on Thursday, October 14.
The 52-year-old musician sported dark aviator glasses and black velour jacket with gold embellishment in the front.
Prince did not divulge much details of the tour but said it will be a series of events.
The tour will feature performances by Prince himself, his band and Janelle Monae, Mint Condition, Esperanza Spalding and Cassandra Wilson.
"Bring your friends, bring your children," Prince told the audience, "and bring foot spray because it's going to be funky," said Prince.
"Come early, come often. I have a lot of hits ... no two shows will be the same," he added.
Information on dates, venues and tickets is awaited.
