Mel Gibson Dropped From Hangover 2

Mel Gibson's cameo appearance as a tattoo artiste in Hangover 2 has been dropped following protests from members of the cast and crew.

According to multiple sources, Warner Bros., Legendary Pictures and director Todd Phillips have confirmed Gibson's axing.

"I thought Mel would have been great in the movie and I had the full backing of Jeff Robinov and his team. But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew," Todd said in a statement.

TMZ had first reported there were rumblings against Gibson's inclusion amidst cast members.

According to New York Magazine, "Hangover" breakout star Zach Galifianakis was one of the cast members opposed to Gibson's inclusion in the cast. Galifianakis alluded to the inclusion and his frustration with it during a Comedy Death-Ray podcast this month.
