A two-year-old son and “Naked Sundays” weren’t enough to keep Christina Aguilera and producer hubby Jordan Bratman on solid ground: The couple have called it quits after five years of marriage, according to whispers on The Snitch Circuit Tuesday.
We hear that while there are no imminent plans for divorce, the twosome have been secretly leading separate lives for months.
Christina and Jordan married Nov. 19, 2005 in Napa Valley, California. The couple’s son, Max, was born in Jan. 2008. Less than a year ago, Aguilera, 29, told Us Magazine (who first broke the story about the couple’s split) that she felt “very blessed” in her marriage with the 33-year-old music executive, who she first began dating in 2002.
“They are now living apart, and they will see how that goes,” an Us insider said of the estranged couple. “They were very much in love. But over the last six months, it became clear they were more like friends than husband and wife.” The source goes on to explain that Aguilera even “proposed their August trip to Italy to rekindle their relationship, but it didn’t help.”
PEOPLE tipsters spin a similar tale. “Yes they are separated,” a source in-the-know spilled to the celebrity weekly on Thursday. “Right now they’re just trying to figure things out. There are no divorce proceedings at this point.”
The breakup comes on the heels of a rough year for Aguilera. Her “comeback album” — Bionic — sold just 200,000 copies and the pop powerhouse was charged with swagger-jacking rival Lady Gaga.
