Dana Delany, 54, has vowed to never go under the knife after a hellish experience with Botox left the former “Desperate Housewife” with a permanent eye droop.
“Seven years ago, I had never heard of Botox,” Delany tells the November issue of Prevention Magazine. “My dermatologist was saying, ‘You should try it.’ He injected my forehead, hit a nerve, and created a huge hematoma. The nerve has been dead ever since. It affected the muscle in my right eye, so my eye has started to droop a little bit.”
Now Dana is squarely against slicing a few years off her face — or any other part of her body with plastic surgery.
“I won’t do it, no. My hat’s off to Jamie Lee Curtis. She’s so smart, and she doesn’t dye her hair or anything. And Meryl Streep still looks like herself. Diane Keaton, too. I think the really great actresses don’t worry about that kind of thing.”
Expounding on the issue of aging, Dana speaks candidly about her struggles with an eating disorder as a twentysomething.
“I binged. I starved. I was one step from anorexia—a piece of toast and an apple would be all I would eat in a day,” she says.
Delany debuts in the new House-esque ABC medical drama Body of Proof later this year. The show focuses on a neurosurgeon who returns to work as a medical examiner after a violent car crash.
