Sam Rockwell said today that he was 'naïve' about the American justice system until he began work on his latest movie, 'Conviction'.
The move is a biopic based on the life of Betty-Anne Waters, who spent two decades fighting to release her wrongly convicted brother from prison. Speaking during a press conference at the London Film Festival, Rockwell said, "I was certainly naïve about the judicial system in America. There's a lot of people who are in prison who are innocent. The system is very flawed." Rockwell's co-star Hilary Swank agreed, adding, "This [film] will hopefully, for sure, shine a bright light on that flawed system. Since DNA evidence has come into effect, I know that with the help of the Innocence Project 259 wrongfully accused [people] have been exonerated from prison."
