Aishwarya Rai Resplendent at Manish Malhotra Fashion Show

Aishwarya Rai wowed as Manish Malhotra's show stopper on Day 1 of the HDIL India Couture Week 2010 at Hotel Grand Hyatt late evening Wednesday, October 6.

She looked stunning in traditional Indian bridal attire, wearing an ivory colored, floor length, flared lace skirt (lehanga) with a short-sleeves, backless corset (choli).

The dress blended a modern silhouette with traditional fabric, lace and embroidery.

Aishwarya's appearance on the opening day focused a lot of attention on the event and set it off to a flying start.

The former model and Miss World (1994) hasn't walked the ramp for a fashion designer since her modeling days over 15 years ago.

Explaining why he picked Aishwarya as his show stopper, Manish said:

"She has that timeless beauty about her but yet she is contemporary and pretty."

"Emerald is the main color of my couture week collection," says Manish about his collection.

"Emerald is the new bridal color," he adds.
