Carey, 25, carried off the shoulder baring Vionnet Spring 2011 color-block dress with considerable aplomb.
She accessorized with golden Giuseppe Zanotti for Vionnet wedges from the same collection.
Her swept up short hair was styled in waves. She wore red lipstick and smoky eye makeup.
Earlier in the day The Never Let Me Go star wore a pleated chartreuse cocktail dress by Proenza Schouler with black piping and trim details for the photocall of her film. She glammed her look with black YSL platforms and a dainty black hair band.
Speaking at a press conference in London's Leicester Square, Carey Mulligan said, "Keira and I did Pride and Prejudice together and we've done lots of adaptations of Dickens and Austen and things where the author's not around to tell you if it's rubbish. "So this was doubly intimidating because we had [Kazuo] with us and you want it to be everything that he imagined when he wrote it, and there are current people who read the book recently and are in love with the book, so there's more pressure." Carey is Vogue cover girl for October 2010 issue. She has had a good year. She won a Bafta - Best Actress in Leading Role for her role in An Education earlier this year and a long list of other accolades for her performance. Carey has been dating her Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps co-star Shia LaBeouf since August 2009. Her next much anticipated film is a remake of My Fair Lady in which she will play the Cockney flower seller Eliza Doolittle. Incidentally her Never Let Me Go co-star and pal Keira Knightley was originally attached to the project.
