Jessica Alba will lead the cast of the newly-revived Spy Kids franchise.
The actress is expected to reunite with her Sin City and Machete director Robert Rodriguez to play a mother of a baby and two pre-teen stepchildren who is reactivated for secret agent duties, The Hollywood Reporter squealed on Tuesday.
The actress — who recently signed up to star alongside Robert DeNiro and Ben Stiller in the comedy Little Fockers — is said to be in talks with producers to play a retired spy in Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World.
Jessica, 29, will be playing the mother of a baby and two pre-teen stepchildren, who will be the new Spy Kids. It’s all apart of Rodriguez’s plan to revamp the franchise. Spy Kids originally starred Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara as the children of secret agent parents.
Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World is set to begin filming in Austin, Texas next month with a budget of $30 million. It will be the second movie in the series to be released in 3D. The movie revolves around a plot to freeze time hatched by a villain called the Time Keeper. The role of her character’s husband – a “nerdy” investigative reporter – as well as the film’s villain, are still being cast.
This will be the third time the Dark Angel actress has worked with the Rodriguez after starring in 2005’s Sin City and the action-flick Machete, opening next month.
