Salman Khan, Sonakshi Sinha's Dabangg Gets UA Certificate

Producer Arbaaz Khan is elated that his debut production Dabangg, headlining Salman Khan and debutante Sonakshi Sinha has been granted a UA certificate.

"The censors give Dabangg UA certificate without any cuts. That means we get to release the film without any changes. Yippeeeeeeeee !!!" Arbaaz tweeted minutes ago.

An A certificate would have hurt the film's box-office prospects, since families with young children wouldn't have been able to see the film on the opening weekend.

Arbaaz had earlier said that his film does not have gory violence.

"It is a fun masala entertainer and that's the way we have projected the film through promos as well," he told Bollywood Hungama.

Dabangg, which means fearless in Hindi, is set in Laalgunj, Uttar Pradesh. It's the story of Chulbul Pandey (Salman Khan), a fearless but corrupt cop with unorthodox working methods.

Chulbul had a troubled childhood following his father's early death. He grew up with his mother Naini (Dimple Kapadia), step father Prajapati Pandey (Vinod Khanna) and step brother Makhanchan (Arbaaz Khan).

Prajapati always favored his own son, which irritated Chulbul, who learnt to fend for himself.

Chulbul's life changed after he met Rajo (Sonakshi Sinha). He begins to see the world more positively. But there were people who wouldn't let Chulbul walk a straight path.
