Knife Wielding Man Arrested Near Paris Hilton’s Home

Officers arrested a man near the home of socialite Paris Hilton early Tuesday.

Hilton rose this morning to find a strange man wandering around her compound above the hills of Sherman Oaks, California. She quickly called police.

The man in his 40s was arrested about 6:30 AM PT, said Richard French of the Los Angeles Police Department. No injuries were reported, but the entire ordeal was pretty scary for Hilton. Paris posted the above photo along with this message on her Twitter page: “So Scary, just got woken up to a guy trying to break into my house holding 2 big knifes. Cops are here arresting him.”

Police officials would not confirm whether the man was carrying knives or other weapons at the time of the arrest, although tipsters tell TMZ.com that the man was armed.

This isn’t the first time Paris’ home has been targeted by a would-be thief. In December 2007, an estimated $2 million worth of jewelry and other items were taken from the same Sherman Oaks home. In 2004, a Hollywood Hills home owned by Paris was burglarized. Hilton’s home also was targeted in the 2009 Bling Ring case. Prosecutors alleged that from Oct. 2008 through Aug. 2009, a gang of young men and women broke into the homes of young celebrities around Hollywood, stealing jewelry and luxury items.

They cut their teeth robbing Paris’ pad.
