A New York man convicted of breaking into the hotel room of actress Kirsten Dunst and swiping a designer handbag valued at $2,000 has been sentenced to four years in the clink.
In 2007, James Jimenez was accused of raiding the Spider-Man star’s suite at the SoHo Grand Hotel in Manhattan while the actress was filming How to Lose Friends and Alienate People with Simon Pegg and Megan Fox. Pegg’s cell phone was also among the items swiped from the room.
Jimenez was later charged with burglary and trespassing and went on trial last year. Thanks to testimony from Dunst and Pegg, he was ultimately convicted on the trespassing charge, while jurors deadlocked on the more serious burglary allegation. A retrial earlier this summer resulted in a conviction on the second count.
Jimenez, who continues to maintain innocence, returned to Manhattan Supreme Court on Tuesday, where a judge handed him the lengthy sentence.
