Spencer Pratt has released a long winded apology to estranged wife Heidi Montag for his "outrageous and infantile" behavior. Change of heart or he can't sell Heidi's sex tape?
Spencer told People magazine, "Divorce can be a trying, draining, and emotionally devastating experience for all involved. Despite these hardships, most individuals manage to conduct themselves with dignity and maturity. I did not – I failed spectacularly."
"I horribly embarrassed the one person that meant the world to me. For my outrageous and infantile behavior, I offer Heidi my most sincere apologies," he added.
Spencer has been trying to sell a sex tape featuring him with Heidi, as well as Heidi in girl-on-girl action with Playboy playmate Karissa Shannon.
Heidi, after initially denying the existence of the tape, admitted that Spencer could have filmed them making love without her knowledge.
Playmate Karissa has acknowledged her sex tape with Heidi, but has threatened to sue Spencer if he releases it.
Spencer has been shopping the tape to porn purveyors Vivid Entertainment for some time, demanding $5 million for it. However, he has not shown the tape to them.
Late last month, Vivid head honcho, Steven Hirsch, told TMZ that he wants to see at least a 30 second preview of the tape before negotiating a deal with Spencer and Heidi.
A source close to the couple told TMZ at the end of last month that Spencer believes his marriage with Heidi can still be saved through counseling, and Heidi is willing to give it a shot.
Spencer still "loves" Heidi and is ready to do whatever it takes to save the marriage, the source explained.
Spencer is reported to have acknowledged his "fame addiction" and is ready to seek help for it.
Heidi too is willing to put the past behind her and give the marriage another chance.
It remains to be seen if Spencer's change of heart has been dictated by legal hurdles involved in selling the sex tape, or a deal with Heidi to take him back so that they can make more money doing reality shows together. The latter would put Heidi's ambitions of transitioning to the big screen on hold.
