Michael Jackson's children and mother, Katherine Jackson, have sued AEG Live for not providing Michael adequate physical care during the run-up to his London concerts.
According to the lawsuit, which also names Kenny Ortega, who was producing the London concerts, as a defendant, Michael was disoriented and shivering during his last rehearsal at the Staples center.
In legal documents filed on September 15, Katherine claims that AEG's contract with Michael "created a legal duty for AEG to act reasonably toward the physical well-being of Michael Jackson."
"But AEG, despite its knowledge of Michael Jackson's physical condition, breached those duties by putting its desire for massive profits from the tour over the health and safety of Michael Jackson."
Katherine alleges that AEG did not screen Dr. Conrad Murray properly before hiring him, and didn't provide adequate equipment for Michael's care.
She also holds AEG responsible for putting Michael's elder son Prince through the distress of seeing Michael suffer and die.
"He was put in a position as bystander to these tragic events," she states.
Brian J. Panish, the attorney who filed the lawsuit on behalf of Katherine released a statement saying, "The purpose of this lawsuit is to prove to the world the truth about what happened to Michael Jackson, once and for all."
