Salman Khan continues to be upset with the backlash over his alleged remarks on the November 26, 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, made to a Pakistan TV channel.
"He's extremely upset with what has happened recently. He's not able to enjoy the success of his film [Dabangg] as the controversy has ruined it for him!" a family member of the star told DNA.
Soon after the TV channel aired Salman's controversial remarks, causing an uproar in India, Salman took to his Twitter account to tell his fans that he had been misquoted. Pained by the incident, he told his fans that he may go off Twitter.
Since then, Salman hasn't tweeted, but he also hasn't deleted his Twitter account, which has been inundated with tweets of support from his fans.
His friends and family are keen that Salman stays on Twitter, so that he can communicate directly with his massive fan base, rather than be at the mercy of the press. They are advising Salman not to delete his account, but tweet sporadically, to keep in touch with his well wishers.
Salman's mother, Salma, told DNA that Salman has been in a foul mood for the past few days, but is now emerging from his shell.
"Abhi who theek hai (He's alright now). He was not in the best of moods. I've not discussed the issue with him, I just let it be. He's just stepped out of the home now after all these days," she said. "But we've received so many calls. Everybody's concerned about him. I just want this to pass."
